The Pre-Fall Edit: Enjoying This Transitional Season

If you were around for my Malibu Summer phase, you would know that I crafted a theme that epitomized my summer aspirations. This theme wasn’t just about ticking off activities; it was about immersing into a lifestyle and connecting with my inner child. I did things that made me truly happy. I enjoyed fresh foods, nature, and took my health to new heights. I let go of the parts of me that were holding me back. I let go of these limitations that included the need to be perfect and I became kinder to myself. This summer was a blessing. It was a blessing because I started this summer out with intention. I intended to create a summer that felt like those I grew up on and I worked diligently to carry out that intention all summer long!

In a similar way that I created a theme for summer, I have also created a theme for this pre-fall season. I am calling this transitional period: Coastal Fall. Coastal Fall embodies the slow transition from summer into the beginnings of autumn. In LA, we are starting to see the subtle hints of the beginnings of Fall. The days are gradually getting shorter, the leaves are just starting to turn their beautiful amber color, and the morning air is slightly getting crisper by the day. While Autumn is still weeks away, Coastal Fall is about savoring the lingering summer warmth, while mentally curating the ultimate Autumnal self.

To give you an idea of how I’m embodying Coastal Fall, here is a mini explanation of what Coastal Fall is all about:

Coastal Fall consists of summer barbecues, dinner parties with loved ones, and embracing the last few weeks of “summer nights”. It’s about furthering our connections with those we love. It’s about embodying a grateful and positive mindset. Less input, more output. We are limiting distractions and unnecessary social media scrolling and we are being more cognizant with how we spend our time. It’s a time where we develop more consistent routines and practice self-discipline. We no longer let emotions dictate how we show up or whether we show up at all. We’ve identified who we desire to be this Fall and we actively work to step into that version of ourselves each and every day.

To help when motivation wains, we have curated our environments to make life more fun. As we work on our goals, we romanticize doing the work and we make it more enjoyable. We take immaculate care of ourselves, of our money, of our bodies, and of our relationships. We know how to manage it all.

I’m excited for this transitional season. In fact, I’m already embracing it now. I love channeling the spontaneity of summer but with an added layer of structure. We are creating harmony — a harmony that interweaves self-compassion with discipline, particularly in areas demanding more focus. We owe it to ourselves to treat ourselves with love while making changes for the better. Let’s be present together, let’s enjoy this transitional period.
