From Summer to Fall: Reset, Refocus, and Romanticize Life

As summer slowly comes to a close (although not quite yet), we’re transitioning into that pre-fall season—where it’s not quite autumn, but we can feel the shift in energy. We’re settling down from our summer travels, getting back into routines, organizing our homes, and getting clear on our goals for the rest of the year.

I love this time of year. It feels like another reset—similar to New Year’s energy, but calmer and more intentional. Even though I live in year-round summer in Miami, I still embrace seasonal changes through the way the energy shifts.

This fall feels especially exciting for me. My apartment is finally coming together (slowly but surely), and with it, my vision for this new chapter of my life. I’m creating routines that fit the season I’m in and bring out my best self.

Here are a few ways you can embrace this transitional season and make the most of pre-fall energy:

1. Refresh Your Vision Board

Update your yearly vision board—or if you’re like me and didn’t make one yet, create one now! Use images and words that truly resonate with where you are and where you’re going. This is more than just a moodboard—it’s your vision for what you actually want to manifest before the end of the year. Bonus tip: make it your phone or laptop background so you’re reminded daily.

2. Reignite Your Curiosity

There’s something about this time of year that makes us want to learn again (probably because of that ingrained “back-to-school” feeling). This is the perfect time to start a new hobby, pick up a class, or even dive into a new book genre. Personally, I just started taking Spanish lessons three times a week—it’s something I’ve wanted to do for so long, and finally investing in it feels amazing. What’s one thing you’ve been putting off that you can start now?

3. Get Your Finances in Order

Fall is the perfect season to check in on your money goals. For me, this year has been a spendy one—between moving, furnishing a new place, and adjusting to a new lifestyle. But instead of beating myself up, I’m using this season to refocus. Take some time to review your budget, clean up unnecessary spending, or schedule a meeting with your financial advisor. Even a few small adjustments can help you end the year strong.

4. Reset Your Home

Your environment impacts your energy. As we move into this cozy season, do a little home refresh. Declutter your space, switch out lighter summer pieces for warmer textures, or even buy fresh flowers to breathe new energy into your home. If you’re not ready for full-on fall décor yet, simple swaps—like candles, throws, or neutral-toned accents—can create that transitional feel.

5. Reevaluate Your Wellness Routine

With seasons shifting, our bodies often crave different rhythms. This is a great time to reestablish a workout routine if summer travel threw you off, or to incorporate new rituals like evening walks, journaling, or more intentional meal planning. For me, I’m focusing on workouts that keep my energy up and my stress down, like strength training, Pilates, and lots and lots of walking. Ask yourself: what small wellness habits can you add or recommit to that will make you feel your best this fall?

6. Create a Pre-Fall Bucket List

Romanticize the everyday by making a list of things that will help you savor this season. This could be:

  • A list of restaurants you’ve been wanting to try

  • Hosting a cozy dinner party or Sunday football get-together

  • Planning a solo bookstore or café date

  • Scheduling fun outings with friends or family

  • Seasonal activities like beach walks at sunset, farmers market mornings, or trying new fall recipes

Having a little seasonal bucket list gives you something to look forward to and makes the transition feel intentional and joyful.

Pre-fall is such a beautiful season of transition. It’s about grounding yourself, romanticizing daily life, and setting intentions that carry you into the rest of the year with purpose. Whether it’s refreshing your goals, taking a new class, or simply making more time for long walks, use this energy shift as your reset.
